not much happening
At my checkup yesterday I was dilated to 1 and 20% effaced. So basically that means nothing is happening any time soon!! It doesn't look like we'll have a baby by Christmas...maybe New Years?! We'll see!! :)

Feeling ready :)
Tonight John put the crib and changing table together for the nursery. It looks so great in there!! JD wasn't sure what was going on, though. He was peevin' mad when we got the crib up, but wouldn't let him go in it!! We kept telling him it was for his brother, the new baby, but he certainly didn't get it. He kept shrugging his shoulders and putting his hands up like "what do you mean?" It was cute. He tried to climb on up into it. John said, "Who ever thought a toddler would want to climb INTO a crib!" It was pretty funny. Once I get it vacuumed, I'll post some pictures for you to see. It's nice to have some new things for this little one so he doesn't have to have hand-me-downs all his life. At least his crib is new! haha
I can't believe he's going to be here in about a month. So crazy! Then I'm going to be a momma to two cute little boys. I can't wait!! I wonder what he looks like. My guess is that he's going to have dark hair, but look like JD in the face. We'll see! I'm so excited!!! :)

Happy Thanksgiving!!
We hope this Thanksgiving finds you as blessed as we are! We had Thanksgiving round 1 last night with my parents, and are off for Thanksgiving round 2 with John's parents today. Should be yummy, although I am still a bit full from last night! JD LOVED eating Turkey! It was cute. The baby is doing well. I had my 34 week appt yesterday and she said that everything looks good. I'm measuring right on...so it looks like our little peanut will be here right at the new year!! I'm very excited. John and I are off on a little weekend getaway tomorrow-Sunday. :) I'll post Thanksgiving pictures when we get back. :)

sickies!
We dfinitely got hit with the flu this past week!! JD came down with it last Friday...he threw up at Marshalls while shopping with my mom! He was then sick Friday and threw up again on Saturday evening...all over John! My mom got it on Sunday, and was down Sunday and Monday. Tuesday it hit both John and me!! What a whirlwind! We're all finally feeling better. :)

Trick-or-Treat!
JD had a blast on Halloween! He came to my school in the early afternoon for our Halloween Parade and party. The kids loved him! He certainly was the cutest turtle ever!! In the evening, we went to Ryan & Emily's so that JD could Trick-or-Treat with Ian. They had so much fun together - our little turtle and monkey! JD enjoyed taking the candy and putting it in his pumpkin. He carried that pumpkin around all night and wouldn't let anyone, not even Mommy, hold it for him! After, the boys ran around after each other and played until they were exhausted. We loved watching them play together, not just in the same vacinity of each other. I think last night was the first time they actually played with each other. It was great!

Escape Artist, JD
So, yesterday when I called my mom to see how JD was for the day, she told me that he had escaped from his crib during naptime. Today, he did it again, twice and never ended up taking a nap!! I hope he doesn't climb out of his crib at home. Oh dear...

Pumpkin Patch!
We went to the pumpkin patch today. JD had tons of fun with Mommy, Daddy, Grandpa D., and the animals! They had a little farm there and he enjoyed chasing around after the chickens! The bunny tried to hop out and give JD a kiss, but he wasn't very interested. He had fun in the wagon, looking at pumpkins in the patch, walking through the corn stalks, and trying to eat the hard corn most of all! He also loved carving one of the pumpkins with Daddy when we got home. It was a nice afternoon. Take a look at the pics!

Looking good :)
I went to the DR today. The baby is doing well. Dr. Bradfield did a quick ultrasound again to make sure the baby is a boy...it is!! We saw proof for sure this time!! haha I am now on two week appointments for the next 3 appts, then week-by-week after that! I'm getting so excited to meet our little man! Now, if I can only get the nursery ready. Anyone wanna help? :)

Mr. Big Boy!
The last couple weeks have been a whirlwind. John and I both started school and JD started back with Grandma and Grandpa Dunwell. He loves it there, although he has been a bit clingy when I drop him off in the morning. After a big hug and a thousand kisses, he normally waves goodbye and blows me a few kisses and I'm on my way!! He is really growing and changing. It seems that he is so big, although he's still only 23.5 pounds. He's over 32 inches, so that's probably why! He has another tooth on the top right side, and the matching one is working it's way down on the left. Still only two little teeth on the bottom, so his smile is seriously SO cute!! I'll have to post more pictures soon. Today he showed off how smart he is. At 16 months 2 days, he is able to take the shape sorter ball and put the shapes into the correct holes all by himself! He did it quite a few times, so I know it's not a fluke! :) He is growing so much. He loves kissing my belly, with raspberries of course. He thinks that's hilarious. I'm not sure that he really understands that his little brother is in there, but he sure likes giving him kisses! I am so proud of JD. I love being his mommy. :)

BOY, OH BOY!!
Our ultrasound went well today. It was so fun seeing the baby up close. It was especially fun to find out that JD is going to have a little brother! We are very excited and know that it will be fun for JD. Our ultrasound put me due January 2, so that means the baby is a little bigger than what we originally thought. Since the ultrasound, he has been bouncing all around in there. I think he's excited, too! We're not sure of his name yet, but when we decide we're going to keep it a secret. There has to be some surprise when he's born!! :) These pictures are of his profile and his cute little footprint! Enjoy!!

August Family Update
I can't believe it's already the 13th of August! Time sure flies during the summer.
We spent a fun week up at Shanty Creek with John's parents at their timeshare. We went to Traverse City, Sleeping Bear Dunes, and Petoskey that week. It was fun! JD peed in the sand standing up for the first time on the beach in Petoskey. It was seriously so funny because he didn't realize what happened and then he looked at me like "what the heck??" He's becoming such a big boy.
After our week with John's parents, we went camping in the UP. We stayed at Tahquamen Falls for two nights. The first day we went to Pictured Rocks National Park, which was just beautiful! The second day we went to the upper and lower falls at Tahquamen. The next two nights we stayed in St. Ignace. Our campsite was right on Lake Huron with a beautiful view of the Mackinac Bridge. It was great, although JD did get some chigger bites, which freaked us out a bit because he looked like he had chicken pocks! Anyways, we visited Mackinac Island and the two forts and the sawmill. It was fun. I think the sawmill was my favorite part because I teach all that to my 4th graders. It was cool.
We then drove down to see my Uncle Ron in Muskegon. He is really sick with cancer. They have stopped chemo because he is just too weak and is having Hospice come in now. I hope he lives until our baby is born in January, but I'm afraid he will not. I just pray that he is not in pain, because he looks like he is.
Since we've been home, we've spent some time with my parents, Jeff, and Evie! We missed them! It sure has been a nice summer, but where oh where has the time gone?! John started coaching swimming again today and we both start back to school in a couple weeks. In the meantime, we'll be moving JD into his "big boy" room and getting things organized for him in his new space. We want to do it well before the baby is born so he doesn't remember being in the nursery and think that the baby took his place. I pray that transition goes well. I know it will probably be difficult for a few nights.
Tomorrow is our ultrasound. We've decided that if it's obivous what the sex is, then we want to know - otherwise we don't! I'll keep you posted! :)

avocado?
So I was reading in my pregnancy book last night and apparently the baby is about the size of a large avocado! That's crazy. No wonder my pants aren't fitting as well anymore! :) I'm going to the OB on Thursday and then we'll set up our appointment for radiology for the week we return from up north. I'm excited! We've decided that we may find out the sex, but keep it a secret from everyone!! Wouldn't that be fun? hehe

home sweet home
I was gone this past week on the mission trip with my kids from church. It was something I needed to do for some closure with the kids, since my job is over there in a week or so. It was a good week, but I missed JD and John terribly. Yesterday, when John and JD came to church to pick me up, JD snuggled up to me, put his head on my shoulder, and wouldn't let go for at least 5 minutes. It was really cute. I guess he missed me too. When I got home, I found out that John had really been working hard this week. He cleaned out the garage, basement, and our extra room upstairs, as well as put my fire pit together. The house looks just great!! John made a wonderful dinner last night (crab legs, redskin potatoes, green beans) and then we went for a long walk around our sub together as a family. It was the perfect end to my time away.
My belly is starting to pop out more. I'm noticing that most of my shorts are getting more snug. I suppose I'll have to switch over to maternity shorts soon. I was going to try to make it the rest of the summer without buying new things, but I'm not sure I can. We're still trying to decide whether to find our the sex of the baby at our 20 week ultrasound. We'll see!

13 week appointment
Our appointment Tuesday went well. The baby measured 7.5 cm long! I sweet talked Dr. Bradfield into doing a sonogram for John, since he hasn't had the chance to see the baby yet on screen. It was great. The body is a little more proportioned now. Baby's arms were over his/her head and legs were crossed indian style - just like JD! I'm sure it's because there's not much room in there! In any case, all went well! I haven't gained a pound since the last time! woo hoo Guess my working out and yoga are paying off! Our next appointment is July 26 - I'll be exactly 17 weeks. After that we'll have the appointment in radiology, and we'll be able to find out the sex of the baby if we want. Not sure I want to....still have time to decide though! :) Leave me a comment and let me know your thoughts...should we find out the sex of the baby before it's born??

update :)
Well, I'm just about 13.5 weeks along. I'm feeling much better!! Not as much nausea nowadays. I think being home during the summer has helped. I'm not quite as exhausted, although running around after JD all day is quite tiring!
I have an appointment on Tuesday and am anxious to hear the heartbeat again. I haven't felt the baby yet, but hopefully I will in the coming weeks. We're still trying to decide if we're going to find out the sex at the 20 week appointment. John would like to, but I'm not sure. I'm leaning towards finding out, though, so I can plan a bit. Stay tuned for an update after my appt. on Tuesday! :)

little peanut
This is a picture of our new little miracle last week. If you look closely you can see the arms and legs, as well as the jaw bone and the shadows of the face. Baby was very active during the sonogram. The baby's heartbeat was in the high 150s. It was so cool to see. I am so excited to be a mommy of two!! :)

Teeth and Milk!! :)
JD finally has those cute little teeth we've been waiting for!! YAY Yesterday at breakfast my sister discovered his bottom left tooth, and this morning his bottom right popped through! He's so cute! He walks around strutting his stuff with his bottom jaw popped out in front, showing off his teeth! It's so funny.
Another milestone he passed this weekend is that he's now drinking cow's milk. We have been mixing it 1/2 formula, 1/2 milk and he's loving it! One week of that and we'll put him on all milk. My baby is growing up!! Only two more weeks until he's ONE!! WOW

Bahamas Here We Come!!
We found out Friday night that my parents found a place in Freeport for Easter Break! I'm so excited. I SO need this vacation and I know JD is going to love the beach!! We are going to drive to Florida and take the boat over to Freeport. It's a 5 hour cruise. I'm so pumped!! I think I may start going to the gym more than 3x per week!! haha

STEPS! :)
JD took a few steps yesterday!!! John was playing with him in the family room and called into me that JD had walked. I was like, "yeah right." He called me in and he did it like 5 more times!! He was so excited - flailing his arms and screeching! He only went about 3-4 steps at a time, but he did do it more than once! :) He also showed off one more time for my mom and dad last night. It was cute!! What a wonderful Valentine's present! AND so happy that John and I both got to see it because we had a snow day!! :)

And he's off!!
Last night JD took his first crawling steps. :) He and I were sitting on the floor and his sippy cup of water was in front of him. He pushed himself on his knees, wagged his butt a little, pushed up on his toes and crawled forward!! He did this about 5 times. I then ran to get the video camera, but he was finished with his show for the night! haha As soon as I get a clip, I will put it up on here for you to see!! YAY
