Sledding!

John and the boys had fun! This was Ethan's first time sledding. He was so bundled up and so darn cute!! OK, I'm a little biased, I admit. JD had so much fun. He's the perfect age for sledding. I bet before winter is over, he'll be out there sledding by himself. :)

First Real Steps!

Ethan took 6 steps today! He was so cute and so proud of himself! Just wanted to share the exciting news! :) Only a couple days until the big #1! We're going to go to Red Robin and celebrate. I'll post pics! :)

Snow Day!!

Gotta love it...the day before vacation and we get a HUGE snow!! I think we have at least 9-10 inches so far! We went out to play and help daddy shovel. Mommy pulled JD all the way up the hill, then found out the snow is too deep to sled with the small sled. Oh well! We had fun outside, and that's what matters!! :)

Visit with Santa

What fun! JD wasn't sure that he wanted to sit on Santa's lap, but he sure smiled cheezy!! Ethan didn't cry, but he was certainly intrigued. :)

Pumpkin Patch!

We went to the pumpkin patch and picked pumpkins today! JD's highlights were picking a white pumpkin and seeing the "cow go potty" in the barn. He's so two!! Ethan had fun inspecting the pumpkins and trying to figure out exactly what they are! We had fun. :)

Ethan is 9 months!

Ethan popped his 4th tooth (upper right) on his 9 month birthday! He had a photo shoot with Grandma and Grandpa Dunwell to get some pictures with the red checked blanket...a family tradition! They came out so cute!! He is crawling around like a crazy boy. Ethan loves standing up and holding onto the couch. I bet he'll start trying to walk soon! JD loves playing with him. He is such a good big brother! JD got in on the photo shoot for the Halloween pictures. I love my munchkins!! :)

Sept update!

A lot has happened since I last updated! Ethan has three teeth now! This pic shows his two bottom ones, but he also has one on his top left! By tomorrow night, he might have his other top tooth, too! We'll see!! JD is learning and growing so quickly. I can't believe all the things my parents are teaching him. Last night at church, he picked up a yellow puzzle piece and said, "Look, Mommy...yellow pentagon." I was like WHAT??? You know what a pentagon is?? Seriously!!! It caught me off guard and was pretty funny. He is picking up on everything we say and do and just loves being Daddy's shadow! Ethan is crawling a ton! He still goes forward a little bit, then inchworms once, then pops back up on his knees. It's pretty funny. I'll try to video that this weekend. We're getting excited for fun fall weekends at the cider mill and playing in the leaves!! Leave a comment and let us know what you've been up to! :)

JD had a great time today at Daddy's swim car wash! His favorite part was the hose! Too bad he didn't put more water on the cars, and less on himself! He is growing up so fast. We're moving the "big bed" from the guest room into his room this weekend. I'll post pictures of his new room when we have it all ready!

Back to the Grind

Tomorrow John and I officially begin school for the 08-09 school year. It's been a fun summer, and I have really enjoyed spending time with John and the boys. I am excited, however, for my new class and a new year. I think I might make some "new school years" resolutions! I have a goal to lose at least 30 pounds by the end of the school year. I want to become healthier for my boys. It will make playing next summer so much more fun!! John is back to coaching and loves it, of course. Things are good, I have no complaints! We're looking forward to Sarah's wedding this weekend and having the chance to see the Burch side of the family again so soon!! :)

First Tooth for Ethan!!

Yay! On Thursday, Ethan's first tooth popped through on his bottom left. It was a long week with all the classic symptoms and *poof* there it was! I tried to take a picture, but you can't see it very well yet, so once it pops up a little more, I'll post one. :)

home sweet home

We sure had a fun vacation, but it's good to be home. Only a couple weeks left of vacation...I can't believe it! It has gone by so quickly. Ethan is so proud that he can sit up all by himself. I took a few pictures tonight. What a cutie!

vacation update

We left Florida on Thursday about 10:30pm. We thought it would be best to drive through the night to Charleston to make the ride easier on the boys. We toured Fort Moultrie and the Charles Pinckney house on Friday morning, relaxed and napped at the hotel in the afternoon, then met my girlfriend Brooke for dinner that evening. We ended the day with a beautiful walk in Charleston.

On Saturday morning, we headed out bright and early to Fort Sumpter. It was a relaxing boat ride...we even saw dolphins swimming and playing by the boat! John really enjoyed the tour at the Fort. JD really enjoyed the stairs! He probably went from top to bottom at least ten times! That afternoon we drove up to our condo in North Myrtle Beach. It is a really nice place in a beautiful location! We unpacked, went grocery shopping, and played in the condo that evening.

Sunday we woke up and got ready for church, but when we got there we realized that the service had already began. We went to the visitor's center instead, had a delicious lunch in a town closeby, and drove around a bit. JD then took a long nap and after dinner we played in the pool. It was a fun day! Today we're off to the beach!! We're having a great time!! :)

Today we went to the Air Museum on the Navy Base. It was very interesting. There was an exhibit on John's grandfather that was pretty cool. The boys had fun climbing in and out of old airplanes. Afterwards we came back to Ericka's and played...some inside and some at the park. The kids love playing together! John took JD on a bike ride with Andrew to a big park. They had a blast! We had a nice day! Tomorrow we're taking the kids for pictures. Hopefully I'll have some to post! :)

Hello, Pensacola!

Day two of our vacation...how nice!! We arrived in Pensacola this afternoon. JD has had such a fun time playing with his cousins, Andrew and Chase. Ethan is watching Ally intently, trying to learn how to crawl like her! We all enjoyed a wonderful dinner at this Irish Restaurant downtown. It was a wonderful day. Tomorrow we're going to the Air Museum. Should be fun!

Yay! Vacation!

We had a super-fun day!! We hit the road about 2:15am and made great time! For breakfast we stopped at a very cool playplace and JD loved running around, playing, and eating a little breakfast. We then drove to Mammoth Cave and took a very cold, but fantastic, cave tour. JD loved it! It was about 3:30 when we finally arrived at our planned hotel for the night in Decatur, AL. I am sure to say that JD's favorite part of this hotel was the pool!! John taught him how to jump in the water...which he did right away with the safety of dad's hands and his life jacket. After a delicious dinner, JD was back in the pool again...without dad's hands to catch him OR his life jacket. I have to admit this made me a little nervous, but I suppose since Daddy was in the water right there with him and he does know a little about coaching swimming :), it was okay. Check out the videos from our playtime in the pool. Tomorrow we're off bright and early to Ericka's. We have about a 5 hour drive. We can't wait to see them!! More updates soon...stay tuned! :)

Swing!

We went to the coolest place today called Rainbow Recreation. It's a showroom for play structures, but they let kids play for two hours in the morning for free! JD had a blast and Ethan did, too! You'll see in the pictures how happy Ethan was on his first swing ride ever. He was a little unsure at the beginning, but decided pretty quickly that he loved to swing, so we did for about 15 minutes. JD had fun with his buddy, Ian. It was a fun morning!

You'll need to know that ever since he was born, I have sung this to JD substituting "Bubbie" for "sunshine" (since my nickname for him is Bubbie). I love when he sings this with me!!

summer days

It's been awhile since I wrote...I can't believe how quickly this summer is going. I sat and looked at my baby tonight, sleeping in my arms, and I can hardly believe that he's already six months. And his brother, the active two-year old...how time flies! I can barely remember life before I was a mommy...when I was free to do whatever I wanted whenever I wanted. Now I am doing exactly that, but in a different way. I love my little wonders...so full of life and smiles...hugs and love. My boys are so precious...I am so lucky. And to top that off, I have a wonderful best friend whom I share all of these amazing moments with. How much luckier could I be?

Some memorable moments from the last few weeks...Ethan's baptism...JD starting to talk in toddler sentences...Ethan began eating cereal...JD is sleeping in his big boy bed...Ethan loves to smile and play with his feet...JD loves to splash and dip his head under water in the little pool in our backyard...Ethan's froggy grin makes my heart melt...JD's big boy smile while tubing at the lake...JD going into Ethan's room when he's crying and comforting him somehow...Ethan rolling all over the floor...JD kissing Ethan's head because he's crying...Ethan balancing and trying to stand up in the saucer and smiling so proudly...JD holding the bottle for his little brother...Ethan learning to hold the bottle for himself...JD's love of reading and of Baby Einstein...JD praying for mommy because he knew I wasn't feeling well...on his own.

I am so lucky, so very lucky.

JD is TWO!

The last week has been very exciting! JD turned two on Sunday!! He was so cute and keeps telling everyone that he is TWO!! :) At his appointment on Monday, he weighed 28 pounds and was 36 inches tall. If the formula is correct, he will be 6 feet at 18 years old. We'll see! Ethan is growing like a weed, too! At his four month appointment on Friday, he was 15 pounds and 26 inches. Our boys are tall!! Life is good :)

Ethan's 2 month appointment

What a growing boy Ethan is! He was 11 pounds 7 ounces and 24 inches long at his checkup yesterday. She said everything looked good. As for the lump behind his ear...For now his pediatrician doesn't want to do anything until he's 6 months. At that point we'll have it x-rayed again and compare that to the x-rays we had done at 6 weeks. Then we'll have him see a Cranium/Facial Doctor if there's still something there. I just pray that it goes away. I'm worried about leaving it if it is something, but I understand why we need to wait until he's 6 months. There's too much risk before then.

JD and Ethan are doing great! JD loves the fact that Ethan smiles at him, and he still loves to give Ethan a plethora of kisses all the time!! We are so blessed.

updates: lump, sleep, work

Last week I took Ethan to the doctor because he has a lump behind his ear. After a visit with the pediatrician, x-rays, and a visit to the surgeon, the diagnosis is a small bony tumor that is not malignant. We may end up having a CT scan to make sure, but we're going to wait and talk to our pediatrician at Ethan's two month appointment in March before we do anything.

Ethan is doing fantastic at night, sleeping at least 7 hours at a time. I am so thankful, especially because I'm returning to work on Wednesday. Ethan was 10lbs 5oz at his appt. last week. What a little piglet! He and JD are both doing great. I took them for pictures on Saturday. Take a look! :)

one month old

Hello everyone! Things are going well around the Burch house, other than the fact that John has the flu! But, the boys are doing well. JD loves being a big brother...smothering Ethan with kisses all the time. We're teaching him to hug Ethan around his belly...not right on top of his face! He is so loving, though. It makes us so happy. Ethan is growing and changing every day. He broke a smile a couple times yesterday and today, but we're still trying to capture it on camera! We would love for you to meet him, if you haven't already. Give us a call and come on by! This picture was taken in the bath the other night. JD loved taking a bath with Daddy and "E" (what JD calls his little brother). JD had fun splashing and Ethan didn't cry a bit! They were so cute. little piglet!

Our little Ethan has gained a pound in the last week! His appointment went really well today. He is now back up to his birthweight...and more! He's 8 pounds 5 ounces and has grown two inches to 22.25 inches long! He's 50% in weight and 90% in height. He's going to be tall like his brother! :)

I am working on a family website for our family. We will still have this blog to keep everyone updated, but our website will have separate pages for each of the boys, as well as some other random things. It is still under construction, but if you'd like to take a look, here's the site.

One week old

Ethan is one week old today! He is doing just great and we're loving every minute as a family of four!! Call us to come visit soon. :)

Baby Ethan is here!!

Our sweet baby, Ethan Richard Burch, was born on January 2, 2008 at 4:34 am. He was 8 pounds 3 ounces and 20 1/4 inches long. We are all happy to be home. JD is a proud big brother and enjoys giving Ethan kisses and checking on him when Ethan is resting in the pack and play. having contractions

Well...I have been having contractions since last night. They were about 40 mins apart through the night, then we lost power! How frustrating! The contractions are about 20-22 mins apart right now, so maybe we'll have a baby soon?! We're at my parents where they do have power, so I'll post when we head to the hospital. Maybe it will be today?! We'll see!! :)
